neglected dog
horizon surrounds me. blossoming in tenderness, burning in anticipation, a swirl of lavender and golden light envelopes the young day. today, however, the cold of the day nips my fingers and a dull ache settles in my chest; an all too familiar sentiment. i force the sweet air through my nostrils, my lungs expand and shudder from the cold. my vision temporarily spikes in clarity and i am alive. those fading memories of a summer past flit and dissolve into the pits of my mind. i learn how to forget.
